Store Owner Murdered with 16 Shots in Missão Velha Had Previously Killed Two Women
Nearly three months after a femicide crime in Missão Velha, a homicide was recorded late Tuesday morning in the same municipality. Around 10:30 am, businessman Fabrício Guedes da Silva, 41, was executed with 16 shots in a suspected case of contract killing. He was inside his confectionery store, located on Padre Félix Street in downtown Missão Velha, when he was killed.
According to witnesses, two men arrived at the store, which sells birthday supplies and confectionery items, on a red Honda Fan motorcycle. They got off the vehicle and went directly to Fabrício, with one of them pulling out a gun and firing the shots. He was part of a criminal organization in Central Sertão, based in Acopiara, and was also charged with homicides and international drug trafficking, having been sentenced to 17 years in prison in 2014.
One of the homicides attributed to Fabrício occurred on October 18, 2017, on Emídio Alves de Almeida Street (Nova Acopiara neighborhood). Maria Socorro Alves de Lima, known as "Novinha", was shot and killed by him, Dergue Paulino de Sousa, "Tartaruga", Manoel Paulino da Silva Neto, "Barão", and Francisco Moreira da Silva, "Zomim". She sold drugs for the group led by Fabrício, and customers began to complain about the quality of the cocaine and stopped buying it.
They discovered that "Novinha" was cutting the cocaine heavily with bulking agents and they started to threaten her life due to the loss of clients, as they had done with another woman. In addition, "Novinha" swapped one of the traffickers' new cell phones for one of much lower quality and was getting ready to leave Acopiara. In fact, she had already sold most of her belongings when she was executed inside her home with four shots.
This was the first homicide of the month of July and the fifth of the year in the municipality, representing 45.5% of the 11 recorded last year. The last one this year occurred on April 25 when Maria Tereza Xavier Maia, a 35-year-old nurse, who lived on Brasília Avenue in downtown Missão Velha, was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend. The gas station attendant, Gleydson Alves Antão, 40, who was trying unsuccessfully to rekindle their relationship, was arrested on the spot.

We have very weak laws in Brazil. He was probably jailed for only 1/6 of the original sentence. We also have some benefits for good behavior, where prisoners are released from jail for 24 hours on special days, such as Christmas and Mother's Day. Some prisoners use this opportunity to escape.
We had an emblematic case, a girl called Suzane von Richthofen, who beat her parents to death with her boyfriend, she received this benefit of being released from jail on Mother's Day. Following her case:

Watching this, I immediately thought the same thing. It's not a robbery, it was clearly targeted at that guy and nobody else (the shooters did well to not shoot the woman), and the way two men charged in there, shot him down, and then emptied their guns into him while he's on the ground- this wasn't a personal beef, it was a hit.
Generally, good people don't get hits placed on them. There are exceptions, but there's an old phrase- "Live by the sword, die by the sword." The victim here has murdered people before. I suppose "Live by the gun, die by the gun" is the more appropriate, modernized version of that phrase, and that's what most of these hits probably are.
