HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man was shot by a nine-month pregnant woman and her husband after surveillance video shows him attacking the couple in front of a north Houston gas station Tuesday evening.
"No, they were not taking out my baby daddy before July 11," the woman said, referring to her due date.
The shooting happened at about 5:25 p.m. Tuesday at 8605 Fulton Street.
The couple asked ABC13 to conceal their identities, fearing retaliation. The woman said she parked in front of the All Season Food Store on Fulton Road, near Berry, to deliver food for her husband, who works at the store. Two armed men were inside a silver SUV parked nearby.
"I got out of my car, and immediately, the guy in the passenger seat of the silver car got out with an AR and told me that I startled him. You know, he said it in a more vocal way," the woman said.
The woman called her husband, who came outside. The man with a rifle got into the driver's seat of a green Dodge Challenger, parked next to the SUV. There were multiple women inside the vehicle. However, the driver of the SUV started trying to pick a problem.
The husband said the man, who police have since identified as 39-year-old Mario Duque, repeatedly asked him, "Do you want to die tonight?" Surveillance video shows the couple ignoring Duque, who pointed a gun at them multiple times.
The video also shows Duque approaching the husband and pistol-whipping him. The wife pulled a gun out of her bag and shot Duque, who continued pointing his weapon at the couple. The husband also shot him.
"Thank God we had our guns. I've never been happier to be a gun carrier," the woman said.

An argument in the parking lot of a nightclub has left a Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officer dead – and a SAPS officer is believed to have fired the fatal shot.
The incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning the at Drama nightclub in Braamfontein.
Both officers were off-duty at the time.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said the deceased was allegedly exiting the parking lot when a vehicle prevented him from leaving.
"An argument ensued between the driver and the officer, and shots were fired," he said.
"The (JMPD) officer was declared dead on the scene."
Fihla said it was later discovered that the alleged shooter was a SAPS member.
He added:
There were other occupants in the vehicle, and according to our knowledge, he has not yet been arrested.
News24 understands that the police officer was in his vehicle with his friend when they were allegedly approached by the deceased, who is said to have had a firearm in his hand.
Allegations are that he started assaulting the SAPS officer outside the nightclub.
It is further alleged that the SAPS officer retaliated and fired at the metro cop.
Fihla said the Hilbrow police would investigate the matter.
SAPS directed News24 to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate for comment.
IPID's Robbie Raburabu confirmed the shooting, saying it had left a metro police officer dead.
"The incident is said to have happened in the early hours of Monday morning in Braamfontein in front of what is said to be an alcohol-drinking place.
"There have not been any arrests yet, but IPID is investigating circumstances surrounding the shooting and death. Unfortunately, the names of people involved cannot be made public at this stage," Raburabu said.

Murder victim in 'Buenos Aires' identified
Roger Vinicius was 27 years old and was killed at the gate of his residence on Tuesday night (27) in Ponta Grossa
It is already known who is the boy killed with several shots on Tuesday night (27) in Ponta Grossa. Roger Vinicius was 27 years old and ended up taking a series of shots at the gate of his residence, located on Rua Rosa Schoemberger, Conjunto Buenos Aires. He leaves a 6 year old son.
According to an investigation by Portal aRede, the minor saw his father arguing with people on the phone. Minutes later, two men called Roger at the gate and shot him several times. Then they got on a motorcycle and left the place.
Samu went to the crime scene and found the victim's death. A Siate Fire Department vehicle was also dispatched to the incident.
The Military Police seek to understand the motivation for the murder and carry out rounds in the region in order to find the criminals.
The Scientific Police are already on their way to remove the body and forward it to the IML.

A resident of turnberry towers in Las Vegas, Nevada successfully drops an armed individual.
The shooter entered the lobby with an assault rifle and (possibly) other weapons, and is seen shooting out a glass pane as he is just out of frame. Moments later as he attempts to leave, an armed employee shoots him in the back, potentially saving lives of people outside of the building.
