On February 24th 2022, Russia attempted (and failed) to blitzkrieg the sovereign nation of Ukraine. Almost two years later as of this writing, the resultant war is still ongoing. Slavshit is where content pertaining to that goes.
This category is primarily for videos and pictures of combat and casualties, but discussion amongst those impacted it is also encouraged. This, along with /h/sandshit, for the current incarnation of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, seeks to chronicle the real, raw, unfiltered impact of modern conflicts which are a far cry from the fairly straightforward wars of yesteryear. WatchPeopleDie.tv will serve as an ongoing, citizen-led catalog of what is really happening on the ground and how it impacts those who live there, be they Ukrainian or Russian. Our independent and unsponsored status allows us to serve the sort of content that mainstream media networks, online and televisted, could never get away with broadcasting and wouldn't even if they could as they aim more than anything to push a sanitized, partisan agenda of their own. We are beholden to none, and any legal media is welcome here so long as it is related to the events unfolding. Vitriolic discussion is inevitable as well; the cost of war cannot be counted in bodies alone, and the sectarian, interpersonal conflicts that flare up between countrymen and neighbors is often minimized and overlooked. Let the discourse here immortalize that for all to see.
RULES
Upvotes and downvotes both increase the ranking of posts equally in this category. Downvoting is still discouraged unless something is genuinely low quality, though with emotions running high amongst third worlders, downvotes when one's pet side looks bad or loses in a video seem to be the norm. And so downvotes cannot serve to censor inconvenient reality here.
Calls for genocide are of questionable legality, and WatchPeopleDie.tv does not aim to end up in a landmark court case seeing where the line is exactly. Don't call for the eradication of people, whether they're Ukrainians, Russians, whatever.
This is true site-wide, but bears repeating here: WatchPeopleDie.tv is not Reddit. People are going to be mean to you. They're going to call you names. They're going to insult your beliefs. This is allowed. Stop reporting people for disagreeing with you or hurting your feelings or whatever. This clutters up the report queue which we use to get rid of spam, reposts and actually illegal content.

I don’t disagree that Ukraine is corrupt, but so is Russia. I’m wondering why you’re against them heading towards western checks and balances, rather than continuing on with Russian mafioso corruption? The fact that they’re striving to be western is them trying to pry themselves from Russian corruption.

The difference between Russian and Ukrainian skinheads is , they exist in Russia, but in Ukraine they are heavily assimilated into the army and national guard/territory defense groups.
You can find videos of their rally’s and parades even on YouTube dating far back to before the war started in 2014.
This take is what got me my Reddit perma ban so I kinda expect to be called a Russian bot or Orc by anyone who sees this lmao, I’m aware the Kremlin and Russia as a whole are far from perfect like any country, but it’s hilarious when people try and claim Ukraine to be a “sovereign Democratic nation”.

If nationalist Ukrainians want to be in Ukrainian army, national guard or defense groups that is their right, and their's alone. That's not for Russia to judge. Or for you for that matter. Ukrainians can do what they want in Ukraine. And Russians cannot.

There is precisely zero evidence that Ukraine was "heading towards Western checks and balances." Since the 2014 US-backed coup, Ukraine has become MORE fascist and MORE Nazi.

Except that Putin has for the most part rounded up and eliminated the Russian mafia like in Soviet times. You're describing 90's Russia, not modern Russia. It's a very different place. Now, Russia has a very strong central government and bureaucracy and intelligence apparatus that is able to exert control over remote republics within the Russian federation, which was not the case in the 90's. The Russian mafia now mostly operates in Western countries that can't just round them up and kill them/imprison them.

If by "Western" you mean "sacrificial pawn" then that's just stupid of them. Like any pawn, they are being sacrificed, of course. In any case, Ukraine is not worth 1 American or European life, which should have given them a clue that they aren't equals, but merely pawns in a larger global chess game.

But it's not Russian corruption, it's Ukrainian corruption, which is why Russia can easily buy US made weapons on the black market in Ukraine. Ukraine's arms bazaar has existed since the Soviet Union fell, and Ukraine has also been the most corrupt country in Europe long before this war started.
Ukrainian oligarchs and politicians benefit from this war -- I don't dispute that. When it's over I suspect Zelensky will simply flee to his mansion in Miami, like the Shah of Iran.
