He could've survived, but he's going to be fucked for the rest of his life if he did.
No chance he's walking away from that one without some brain damage. Skull is absolutely going to be cracked up in some spots, and he could even have vision or hearing loss after how brutal some of those kicks were and where they landed.
My profession advice: Fuck around and find out. You have no clue how psychotic or on the edge another person could be, so just don't test your luck in the first place.

On the hearing aspect, I doubt it. Even if he did have hearing damage from that it wouldn't be drastic. Adding onto the fact ossicles can be replaced (the bones in your inner ear that commonly get damaged in heavy fights). As for his eyeballs, Hyphemas and orbital blowout fractures are two things I think can occur from those face strikes but he would need to have a tremendous amount of force behind them, and even then you'd need a pretty hard shoe. Orbital blowout fractures are usually from people getting struck in the face with baseball bats or someone getting a good knife jab on your eye in the perfect spot. Hyphemas aren't permanent they go away in a few days even in severe cases.
To close this up I'll give you my assumption on what most likely happened. Once he finally woke up, he would have nasal drainage coming from his now broken nose; he would not remember the incident or anything building up to it; he would have a lot of bruising around his ocular orbit (this would impair his sight and coordination) and a fair amount of cuts and bruises on both side of his face and he would have a significant other who is in shock.

The dude took more than a dozen full force kicks and stomps to the head. Way after he was completely comatose. He was already concussed from the very first punch. You are very much underestimating how little force it takes to cause a fatal head bleed.
As an aside, wtf was the psychopath's problem? Roid rage? His zero to infinity escalation was completely unhinged.

Iβve noticed that people online tend to think our skulls are just completely jello and think everyone will die just because of hard blows to the head. Your skull is made to handle as much impact as it can, quit thinking just because someone got knocked out that theyβre going to die from brain hemorrhaging. You are very much overestimating that guys impact force.
As for your second paragraph, crazy people do crazy. Eventually they end up doing some super fucked up shit.
