You can see the dog broke out of the cage at 21 seconds. Also, standing your ground against a 130lb Rottweiler that's defending its home would be a dumb af move, that dog's not going to be intimidated. They'd either have to kill the dog or get mauled - probably both. They did the right thing hauling ass, the stupid prick just needs to learn to keep his finger off the trigger.
