Totally fucked up thing for any trusted adult to do- that woman should no longer be allowed to refer to herself as a mother though! Being as the child lived it will get over this incident in time, with her tender age she possibly won't even remember it if it is not constantly brought up throughout her life. My parent did a very similar thing with me in the car when I was in my teens except it was a tree not a truck.
