I'm ridiculously pleased to have 7 new Serama chicks from my old pair- AND, 6 guinea keets, being raised by my best old broody - I've never raised guinea before but the next door pair visit daily. I'm stupidly excited about these keets. (so here they are!)

You've done really well- I can raise rocks and bring dead birds back to life, but have always been nervous of Sebrights, because they easily get Marek's disease. I'm told they are quite persnickety.
Everyone I know who has had them, say they don't live very long- so you're doing excellent. She's very nice, even her comb's good.
This girl's about 10, just a mutt Silkie cross, a great mom. She's raised chicks here every year, sometimes twice a year.

Could you have shown any grown-up chicks of hers? I think they would show well, our county shows are small and I think if she or her chicks were purebred Silkies, especially at her age, she would be pinned decently high as well. The silkies that are usually shown have really ruffled feathers and some heavy mossiness from time to time (Sometimes neglected 😬), but there are always some award-winners there.

No, she's a mutt, (She's actually 1/2 Araucana, 1/2 Silkie, her eggs are green), and no hybrids are allowed to show.
I do have GOOD paint and black Silkies and Showgirls (Naked neck Silkies) and some blacks and whites, the paint male's very nice, and the 2 NNs are lovely. I no longer exhibit because of biosecurity worries, I like my chickens alive and that means safely at home, where so far, no one has ever gotten sick. Just too dangerous with Avian Influenza everywhere.
