There have been worse desires. But still sad none the less. See, in my version, it doesnt end as sad. Guy finally got to do what he had been dying to do.

I remember that statistic. I think it was from the Brooklyn Bridge or the Golden Gate Bridge; everyone who jumped realized that the problems that caused them to jump were solvable just before they hit the water. I agree that suicidal ideation is romanticized; everyone wants a poignant death that will be remembered, but all we get is regret and excruciating pain. Death is so final and endless I don't think we are able to grasp it; so we do these spontaneous things in hopes of making our little brains happy before true reality hits us.
