There was a LOT more going on in that household than simply denying a teenager his PlayStation.

he didn't even know real disappointment yet, and over a game.. i am guessing 10/10 he regretted it the moment he left the balcony

someone who cares so much about a stupid game, definitely cares about life.. he figured out too late that life isn't a game and you don't just respawn

The video game itself ain't the problem. It's being tired of the level of control his parents exerted over him, 100%.

One of my acquaintances back in highschool committed suicide because he failed ONE exam. He was usually first in class and his lifestyle was pitiable. His parents never let him go outside with friends nor alone. Once school was done he headed home, freshened up and headed for after school tuition for another 3 hours. Went home to do his homework and then watch TV with his parents. Never watched cartoons, never watched wrestling, his parents didn't even let him watch educational stuff like NatGeo or Discovery. His entire life worth was centered around the marks he scored in his exams. That's the only time his his parents would express any sort of love for him. Otherwise it was just pressure to study.

When we visited his funeral his parents were bawling like children.

Losing an exam for me wasn't the same as it was for him. Likewise losing videogames wasn't the same for this kid as it is for you and me.

best comment ever I saw on this website , myself was in a smiliar situation I was struggling with a shitty family and video game and internet was the only thing I had pleasure in this moment of my life cutting that made me so angry to the point I decided to leave my house homeless with out any money : BEST decision of my life!

My brother stole my $200 airsoft gun when I was 18, so I stole his $60 GoPro hero 3 and pawned it. My parents kicked me out but not him and I was homeless for 2-3 years. Their excuse for not kicking him out was that he "couldn't survive" out on the streets but I could. I mean my brothers a dumbass so it's entirely possible he woulda been shot real quick cause the area I chose to be is the equivalent of Chicago in my state.

I had a toxic home life and Mom would kick me out often but always needed me back since I took care of all the kids and did the cooking and cleaning. When I was 16 she kicked me out for the last time...not going back was one of the hardest things I ever did because of my siblings but I had to for self preservation. Was for sure one of the best things I ever did as well. That was many years ago and I've been on my own since.

What happened when you left your home? I'm in the same situation and it's on my mind.

I know you didn't ask me but thought I'd share in case it's helpful to you. I was out on my own at 16 and still in high school. I had to work full time while still going to school and keeping up on my school work/grades so the school didn't get suspicious and try to get involved. I got lucky & my job allowed me to work full time hours even though I was a minor and in high school. If they wouldn't have then I would have had to work multiple part time jobs to survive. Since I wasn't 18 I couldn't get my own apartment so I had to rent a room from a couple I met. I could have gone to court to get emancipated and that would have allowed me to get a place and work full time hours but I didn't want to deal with the courts at all. Life was so much better not living in a toxic shit hole...but all the freedom I thought I'd have from living on my own and no longer having to cook, clean, and watch all my siblings was spent working. I was so exhausted from going to school full time and working full time that when I did have a day off I didn't feel like doing much but I did try to every once in awhile so I wouldn't later regret being a normal teenager. Anyways...it was hard, but it taught me to be resilient, work hard, and prioritize my time efficiently. It's also why now I tell any young people I know who are anxious to move out on their own...if they're in a safe place (physically & psychologically safe) then stay at home as long as you possibly can and save $$. Once you're out on your own it never stops.

Oof memory unlocked I remember begging and pleading with a teacher to please change my grade because if I brought home this letter grade my father would explode with rage and it would put me and my mother in danger. It was phys ed, the mark was low due to the fact I had to keep leaving class to use my inhaler because I was asthmatic. Teacher didn't care.

children do stupid things. maybe he had a tough life at home, and not much better outside/ at school.

idk the whole story, but he probably didn't jump because he cared more about a game than his life. most times it's accumulation of things, and then something simple just becomes the last straw.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

my point wasn't really that he cared more about a game than his life, tho.. my point was more that he was way too young to know he wanted to die.. and he had time to think about it on the way down

this wasn't just a shotgun suicide, where it's just lights out

We dont know what went on in his life.

Video games were the only thing I could enjoy from the age of 12, not having friends in school and regularly getting beaten by my dad. If i didnt have them idk what i would have done

They're probably the reason you were miserable not the antidote. It's a self-fullfilling prophecy. You say you're miserable and have no friends so you play video games. You have no friends and are miserable because of all your time spent in front of a screen, missing all the opportunities available to a young man.

No, that is not what I said. Please read again

And that claim makes no sense, if a kid experiences bullying in class, goes home to an abusive alcoholic, its for sure not the video games making him miserable.

But i agree that searching for refugee on the internet and from then on avoiding all social interactions irl, will rob you of all sorts of opportunities. But personally, I never stopped trying to make friends and succeeded with that later on

Games are a blessing, they were made for this purpose, if you can’t handle being away from your game for awhile, then you ain’t gonna be able to handle life. They truly are weeding out the weak.

If someone at that age cares that much about video games to give up their life for it,video games are not the problem here.Kid just probably want to internally compensate lack of nurture he got from his family by video games :marseysad2:

it’s just the title of the video, when I found it: I had a quick look to see if I could find any details, none so far… title is slightly misleading due to this but it is what it was titled and I didn’t want to change it.
