You'd be surprised. Bleeding is mostly driven by blood pressure. He was already basically a squishy bag of catastrophic damage, his heart was already stopped by the time he hit the support. No heart, no bleeding--the blood more oozes out. Like the difference between squeezing a wet sponge versus setting it down wet--it'll still get it's surroundings wet, but not like it will when you apply pressure.
