His name was Brian Velasco, dude was 41 and the drummer in the band razorback. Fell 34 floors
The musician said to the camera “I'm going to go now” before saluting his band mates.
He then stands up and leans over the edge before finally saying “here I go” and plunging to his death.
According to the Manila Police District (MPD) Homicide Section, his lifeless body was found on a safety canopy on the ground floor at 9.45am local time this morning.
Music promoter Dudee Alfonso confirmed that Velasco jumped to his death, reports the Philippine Inquirer.

I wonder if social media overexposure is pushing people who have mental illness towards suicide. Like, I know social media isn't the cause, but I wonder if the allure of dying on social media has some weight on their decision to finally go. I hate social media either, fuck social media.

Two possible effects caused by social media are 1)the perception of you wasting time and doing nothing about it, because when people just lose a lot of their hours per-day scrolling through social media posts they know they are wasting their time, but the dopamine relase makes it easier to not do nothing and enjoy the short-term pleasure of scrolling and 2) The FAKE perception that you have xyz problems and everyone else is doing just fine, this is an illusion caused by the posts ofc. Maybe in some cases , already mentally ill people that use a lot of social media might have commited sucide also because of this effects. But this can be caused only by social media in particular and not by other internet content, even with all the stereotypes about lonely and mentally ill 4channers/redditors/, in theory those websites and applications are not so predatory of dopamine like social media, and their main function is being forums for different topics, so they are actually useful.

I wonder if he felt more compelled to do it since he started live streaming it. I mean out of all the people that commit suicide surely a good percentage back out while thinking it over alone, but maybe the fact that he started streaming to people rather than quietly mulling it over alone gave him enough oompf to take the leap, pun very much intended.
