It's best not to act on impulsive suicidal tendencies. People who really want to die, try it a thousand times before actually doing it. It's hard. Survival instinct kicks in. Thus the crawling. but props to dude actually letting his thoughts win.

Probably a lot of adrenaline, as well as a lot of other shit going through their mind. I can imagine it would be an extremely intense experience committing the actions necessary to throw yourself off a bridge. Who knows, maybe they wanted to make sure they went straight down, no forward momentum, minimal impact from wind, etc, to make sure they didn't land on a vehicle. As well to be sure there was no one underfoot.
