Yeah I saw this a few months ago. Pure determination on her face. No moment of hesitation or doubt. Funny how her arms went up. I wonder what she went through. I'm guessing it's a good, old broken heart.

See I always thought her arms were going up because there actually was some hesitation and doubt. It seems to happen to a lot of people who hang themselves, so maybe it's involuntary, but I can't help but think a lot of them are thinking "shit I change my mind" and try to stop it but can't

There is one video of a guy who regretted BIG time. Tried to get his feet on some counter or something to abort his attempt but fails and dies.
Suicide and regret is like trying to make sure you don't forget something before leaving your house. Once you close the door and go, comes that sudden moment of clarity. Yup, you took the wrong keys. Fuck. It's the same with some of the suicide attempts. Sudden clarity and realization. Sadly only comes once you already locked the door…
The lesson is to never trust your moods and feelings. No matter how hopeless it may seem

I watched that documentary about the Golden Gate Bridge jumpers and the few people who actually survive said that as soon as they jumped, the regretted it and wanted to live. I can't help but think that it's the case with a lot of suicides (but clearly not all).
As for the thing with the hands - I wondered that myself. I've seen enough videos of hangings to notice that the hands go in a way that looks like the person is having a seizure. It's an oddly specific movement (and she was definitely still conscious when she began moving like that). Do you think she's automatically trying to save herself, and curling her wrists is like a sort of manual-override, in order to go all the way through with it and die

I think it can be part voluntary but mostly the hands and arms do that kind of weird shit due to what's happening when you are hanging. You're cutting off not just airflow but bloodflow. I like to describe these last moments like your brain bluescreening. That and having your arms up and gripping your thumbs, weird wrist position, etc is a sign of brain damage. You can see something similar happen to people who hit their head, etc.

Yeah, you're pretty right on this. It's an automatic nervous system response. For some reason though she started to do it while she was still conscious. Strange, for sure.

The arms raising are involuntary, a lot of NFL players have this when they're knocked out and usually concussed. The hand and wrist stuff is spastic due to the head trauma. :( Your brain is trying to save you, but usually it's too late.

I don't know if anyone is interested in this, but the movement she shows are probably involuntary, she is starting to undergo a process called decerebration, and pretty quickly actually, in which a live body loses contact with the brain. The body extends completely and the hands flex. After some time, the spastic contraction of extensor muscles causes fatigue. All the other muscles are contracting as well, the extensors are just stronger, but they consume more energy, so they shut down first. The arms going up, to me, seems more like a tonic convulsion, than an attempt to save herself. It's common for hangers to convulse. Raising their legs, probably their arms. Most likely due to what I said above.

I'll see if I can find it. This one -> https://watchpeopledie.tv/h/suicide/post/52647/classic-video-man-hangs-himself-live is close but I believe it's not the guy ... in the one I had in mind I believe there is actually something like a counter and he is actually trying to latch onto it with his feet. Could be wrong tho and I was only dreaming. But I'll let you know if I find it 👍
Edit: Ok, it's not the one but the link above is also funny because he killed himself because of heartbreak and this https://www.facebook.com/dina.f.fravalent/about is her facebook profile. See how depressed she looks
