Katelyn Nicole Davis was a 12-year-old American girl who committed suicide. She hung herself from a tree in her backyard while live streaming the event to Live.me. The video was shared on social media, particularly on Facebook. The resulting publicity brought an outpouring of online support and attention to the issues of suicide causes and prevention, child abuse, bullying, and appropriate use of social media.

I followed this case pretty closely after I saw the original video on reddit, she had a youtube channel that acted more or less as a diary. Her stepdad had molested her earlier, her drugaddicted (opiates) mom took him back in. Her mother also refused her contact with her real dad. Some weeks prior to her suicide she had a suicide apptment (stole pills from her mom), and was put on antidepressants. In general her life was fairly bleak, and the prospect of having to possible be molested again was probably too much for her. They lived in a mobile home, and in one of the videos there was a hole in the wall in her room, where you could see the outside from so its fair to estimate that the rest of the living areas weren't top notch either. She was also in contact with some 18-19 year old dude that she had contact with online, I think they formed some sort of online-relationship that probably weren't healthy.
I also know that you can get a rise in suicide risk after starting on the very same medication thats supposed to help you, might also be that what did her in. All in all a tragic story.
