Remember everyone: if you're ever on the road, it is your obligated duty to run over bikers. Especially those straggy-ass pedal bikers who take up the road instead of using the bike lane.

There are cases where the truck driver should not swerve - but instead, hit the vehicle that cuts in front of them.

The result of swerving can be much worse than just hitting the idiot. And, too often, the swerving harms innocents.

It's the same when deer or moose jump out in front of a car. The swerving is too likely to kill the driver and passengers.

Unfortunately cab-overs don't always have this luxury, I've seen a video of a deer's head penetrating the video into the driver :mersya:

And moose are even worse. Same too with camels, and cows, bulls, even kangaroos, BUT, swerving IS more likely to cause fatal accidents, ESPECIALLY if you're driving an SUV - (which are too top heavy for safe swerving)

BS. In hindsight you can make those claims, but it's not like you can factor all that in while driving. You have superpowers that let you use your spidey senses to slow the moment down? You can't calculate mass and trajectory and determine where you're going to end up in the split second danger appears. Everyone is going to swerve because they're trying to avoid the obvious potential accident and not the two or three theoretical outcomes.

And there ARE some documented cases where moose, bear, and deer went clean through a vehicle cab, killing the occupants. I'll take my chances on the swerve to avoid

You're absolutely right that it IS the instinctual reaction to swerve. But it's very often the wrong choice.
