On Friday, March 4, a head-on collision of Volkswagen Polo and VAZ-2110 cars occurred on the M5 Ural federal highway near Ryazan, as a result of which five people were killed: both drivers and three passengers of a foreign car.
The accident occurred at about 17 hours on 178 km of the M5 Ural highway. According to preliminary information, a Volkswagen Polo drove into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a VAZ-2110. Five people in the cars died on the spot; only the passenger of the 2110 survived - she was hospitalized in a local hospital with injuries of varying severity.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Ryazan region, a criminal case has been opened on the fact of an accident under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles, which caused the death of two or more persons by negligence"). An investigation is underway.
