Four people died and 22 others were injured in a multiple-vehicle crash in Indonesia's Balikpapan city, East Kalimantan province.
A container truck running on a downhill road hit vehicles that were queuing for a red traffic light in Muara Rapak area, Balikpapan.
"According to the driver, the truck's brakes didn't work.
Of the injured, one is in a critical condition, four are seriously wounded, and 17 others suffer minor injuries. All the victims have been rushed to a nearest medical facility. The police arrested the driver of the tronton truck which caused the fatal accident. The driver who hit a number of motorists and died was taken into custody by the Balikpapan Police. The tronton driver was identified as M Ali (47). The tronton truck he was driving was loaded with lime. The driver is said to have lowered the gear from fourth to third, but the effort was not enough because the tronton truck's brakes failed. No charges have been filed against the driver.
