Don't approach a helicopter until the pilot signals you that it's safe to do so and always crouch while walking

At least he had absolutely no idea what happened.

Yeah, he literally was totally unaware of what happened. He was just immediately gone. Honestly, even though it's gnarly, it doesn't seem like the worst way to go.

Was that the main rotor on top, and it just comes down that far? Seems to be the case. Can't even see it in the video, the guy just loses his head.

The pitch of the rotor blades can change, it is how a helicopter moves forward or changes direction. Usually they get leveled out upon landing but the pilot hadn't done so yet.

I thought they were going to walk into the tail rotor. Never seen someone get hit by the main rotors.

Ahh, of course...thanks for clearing that up.

E: seems that he didn't know about them changing pitch either, or it would have saved his life

After a while you will see more like this of people dying to the main rotor, one reason why I will NEVER go in a helicopter, no matter how safe people say it can be

I'm very confused, how did the blade get the guy? Was it the blade of the main rotor going erratic? I was expecting something dumb like going under the tail rotor or getting hit in an observable yet unfortunate angle but damn if that was me I would've been clueless and ultimately headless too. How was that possible?
