Mark Niver's Fatal Crash @ Pacific Raceways 2010

Mark Niver, thirty-year veteran of Top Alchol Dragster racing, lost his life at the NHRA Northwest Nationals at the Seattle International Raceway, formerly known as Pacific Raceways, in Kent, Washington, United States.

It happened on Sunday, 11 July 2010. After crossing the finish line Niver deployed his dragster's parachute but the chute was ripped from the car, sending it into the catch netting at the end of the shutdown area with enough force to buckle the cars chassis back into the drivers cockpit. Niver was pronounced dead at the scene.

I've been on that raceway, I got to take a fast ride in a badass Porsche 928 back in the day. It was fun and kinda scary though.

“Outta respect to the family of Niver, we're going to show his death video THEN we'll dedicate this race to him”

They should have used some quick sand like material instead of normal sand. That would have reduced the speed of the car. (Right?)
