Aftermath:

São Paulo, Brazil

The Military Police (PM) removed the police officers involved in the chase that resulted in the death of Manuella Souza Carvalho, aged 13, and Albert Wanderson de Moraes Balmant, aged 18. The case happened in the early hours of this Monday (13/5), in Jardim Iguatemi, east zone of São Paulo.

The information was confirmed by the Public Security Secretariat (SSP). The agents will remain away until the end of the investigations that determine the agents' attitude during the operation.

Security camera footage shows that the two were on a motorcycle being chased by a Military Police vehicle. The video also shows that the police vehicle leaves after the accident, without stopping to provide assistance to the victims.

According to Manuella Souza Carvalho's cousin, Fabiana Farias de Almeida, 34 years old, the police report made after the incident did not mention the pursuit nor that the agents failed to provide assistance at the scene. Still according to the relative, instead of attending to the victims, the police looked for neighboring houses to see if anyone had cameras that could have recorded the scene. “They coerced people not to hand over the images,” says Fabiana.

The family member also revealed that she went to the police station and presented the videos questioning the agents' actions, but received the answer that she would have to wait for the delegate responsible for the case to get in touch with further explanations.

“I took the videos, I took the material I had, because the police report said it was an accident. Yes, it was an accident, but due to pursuit and there was no assistance from the police. It cannot go unpunished”, said Fabiana in an interview with Metrópoles.

The SSP stated that the Military Police opened a Military Police Inquiry (IPM) to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the incident. The ministry also says that the agents involved in the incident will remain on leave until the investigations are completed.

A civil investigation was also opened and will be investigated by the 49th Police District (São Mateus).

The cousin said that Manuella sneaked out of the house on Sunday night (12/5) to go to a party that was taking place in the region. According to her, the girl really wanted to go to the party, but her father wouldn't let her. The girl, who stayed at her grandparents' house that day, then waited for her guardians to go to sleep before leaving the house without being seen.

That's fucked up. The cops had taken that corner before - and knew what was coming - the 18 year old driver didn't - and a 13 year old passenger died.

And I normally wouldn't give a shit about shitbags running from the cops, EXCEPT, the cops didn't stop at the scene to help the wounded/dying kids. The cops fucked off. The cops should go to prison.

And then it's fairly obvious/likely that the cops tried to obstruct the investigation and collection of video evidence of their crime.

None of us have ever actually given two shits about FDA approval, we only brought it up because, in your state of mind trusting government authority, it should have been important to you.

It's like you all believing in Santa, and we're trying to tell you he's not real, you can know because you never see him. Now one Christmas eve, you're 40 years old, and come up to peek and see, just in case, Santa might be real. And there he is! He's real! You flock to /r/conspiracy, to tell us we were wrong, but it was your wife's boyfriend all along!
