Happened on June 8, 2024, at 7:56 pm in Uglich, Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia
A family from Moscow (daughter, mother and grandmother) were crossing the road on a pedestrian crossing.
47 years old man in VAZ 2111 didn't stop for the pedestrians and hit the 4 years old girl and her mother. The grandmother avoided being hit.
VAZ driver stopped after the accident and exited his vehicle.
The girl died on spot. Her mother was injured.
The culprit was apprehended by the police.

what the hell were any of them thinking, and why that mother thought to jump past the car as it whizzes by is beyond me. rest in peace poor little child.

It's actually the mom's fault. If she had taken the sensible route and gone backward instead of trying to vault past a speeding car while still holding hands with two other people, they probably wouldn't have gotten hit.
But they should have been more aware overall and stopped to let the car go by.
