The accident occurred after 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday (July 19) in Legnica, at the Sienkiewicza estate in Poland. On Fiołkowa Street, the driver of a Ford car lost control of the vehicle, then hit a woman on a curve in the road and hit other vehicles parked on the property.
Police officers who were chasing a drunk driver started resuscitating a 21-year-old woman from Legnica, but the woman died on the spot. A breathalyzer test showed that the driver had over 2 per mille of alcohol in his blood. He was traveling with two other people in the car. According to the prosecutor's office, the driver showed his Ukrainian passport. All three were detained.
Earlier, after receiving the report, officers from Legnica pursued the driver. They received information from witnesses that the driver bought alcohol in a store and got behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol.
