I always found it so stupid when onlookers start to panic at obvious forseen consequences.

I honestly think that has something to do with the human "condition" or psychology more like. I think people know whats going to happen, but feel compelled to onlook anyway, even knowing they may find it "disturbing" or "shocking". For some people there is likely genuine concern, for others i feel it could be a socially provoked response. In the cases like this where people do this shit to themselves due to unecessary or miscalculated risk, i cant help but laugh. Its not the socially appropriate thing to do, and i dont mean it in malice. Many people have no experience in seeing death caused by another person, or accidental. Its the same morbid curiosity that has people almost compelled to look at car crashes on the road. This is all to say i agree with you, there should be no surprise, but i am trying to contextualize the reduntantly "shocked" responses regardless.
