A 5-year-old girl died in a traffic accident that occurred in the morning hours of this Tuesday, September 27, in the El Cañito neighborhood, urban area of the municipality of Cereté, Metropolitan area of Montería.
According to the first versions, the girl, Gabriela Negrete, was traveling on a motorcycle apparently driven by her mother, Erika Negrete Durango, when the bike's tires apparently slipped and fell to the ground just as a truck loaded with corn was passing by.
After the fall, the girl was run over by the heavy vehicle that was traveling in the opposite lane.
According to witnesses of the event, the truck was coming at high speed, so it could not maneuver to avoid hitting the girl, which caused her death on the spot.
The mother of the deceased girl was taken to a local medical center, where she remains under observation by specialists.
It should be noted that the circulation of heavy cargo trucks is prohibited on the road where the road accident occurred.
Police units were present in the area to take charge of removing the body of the deceased victim.
It was learned that the girl was heading to school to take her classes when the incident happened.
It is presumed that a light drizzle that had fallen minutes before would have caused the bike's tires to slip on the busy road.
