This happens way more often than most people realize - and when bike riders get knocked under trucks - you can figure out that they are likely to die.

But oblivious car drivers continue to swing their doors open blithely unaware that they may kill someone.

A few years ago I read a plebbit comment where someone claimed that they did this when they were a little kid, killing the biker. They were too young to fully understand what was going on.

Since then I have always looked. But I have never observed anyone else looking.
