Anti-Foreigner Beijing Sword Attack
In 2015, a 25-year-old Chinese man, identified only as Gao, attacked foreigners with a samurai sword in Beijing's Sanlitun District. This incident took place outside a Uniqlo store, which had in previous months gained notoriety due to a porn video that was filmed in Uniqlo's dressing room. The video had circulated widely on WeChat, causing a national scandal in China, where pornography is outlawed. Sanlitun is known for its Western influences and is a popular area for foreigners working in Beijing. The sword attack happened at the bus stop outside my office but, being a lazy foreigner, I was fortunately late to work that day...
A 28-year-old Chinese women identified as Gu Wenqing and her French fiancé were both stabbed by Gao. The Frenchman survived his injuries but unfortunately Wenqing died from her injuries. This is not a common event in China, where crime rates are very low. While most Chinese like foreigners, some like Gao do not.

What I find most interesting about crimes/photos of this nature, as opposed to all others, is the fact that the perpetrator, in most cases, has posed/positioned the body of the victim in the way that they want them to be discovered/seen, as well as the fact that the crime scene photographer has done their part in conveying the killer's vision. The only other example I can think of where the victim is ‘posed' to convey a certain message is in the cases of organized crime, where the perpetrator wishes to convey that this person(victim) is a ‘rat' a ‘thief', or ‘too ambitious'.
