Say what you want about the dad, but at least he tried. I tell you what though, you couldn't pay me to ride that fucking elevator. Damn.

He should've gone for the upper thigh or somewhere else, but it's easier to see that with hindsight.
He had quick reflexes, and the kid starts kicking immediately.

In hindsight, dad should have simply pulled the kid backwards off the lift, not try to ineffectively push him forward.

Agreed. He would have had to push him with enough force to move him out of the way. He mostly managed to just knock him over. Grabbing the kid and pulling back might have wound up hurting the kid but it's better then assurred death. He weights enough where you could really lank him if ya wanted to, you might both fall over but i'd take brain dsamage over an elevator crushing my body/skull any day.

Other comments say the kid died. I think if dad even pulled the kid really hard, and they both fell backwards to the ground, the kid would possibly have landed on dad, and barely be injured at all.

I was thinking of grabbing and pulling back even if you had to fall doing it. Tho it also depends on where he could grab him to pull. If he pulled him by the legs it's possible the kid coulda smacked his head, really depends on how/where the kid landed. Still hella of a lot better odds then what did happen.
