Following the disaster, the pilots stated that the flight map which they had received differed from the actual layout. On the cockpit voice recorder, one pilot asks, "And where are our spectators?" Others have suggested that the pilots were slow to react to automated warnings issued by the flight computer.

Both pilots protested the flight plans and weren't really given a choice in the matter. I know for a fact that this day wrecks havoc on both of them and will until they die.

Imagine being forced by your higher-ups to potentially fly to your death, only to then have their shitty decisions kill other people instead. Holy shit that has got to be rough. They were more than ready to risk their own pilots and use them as scapegoats. It's disgusting and just saddening.
