There was a game that I observed some kids play at school where a few kids would press another kids chest against a wall so that he would be unable to breathe, this was done until the kid started passing out then the kid would be released to breathe. This was done as some amateur way of getting high from being light headed as a result of not breathing. This is obvious stupidity, I witnessed this happen sometime around grade 6.

I'm giving away my advanced age, but in the 1970's, we played the game of holding your breath and your friend squeezed your chest really hard until you passed out - and I remember the news talking about how dangerous this type of thing was: I don't remember what year it was in the news.

We did this back in high school. I graduated in 2012. We did it the way you're describing. Never used a damn belt lol … alone. This kids an idiot for doing it like this

With the internet, lots more kids now are socializing online, and spend HOURS a day on Tik Tok, and follow those stupid challenges, and as a result, follow the examples of choking themselves out while they are alone.
Back in the day, it was a social thing - that you did with your friends, and if your friends were smart, or cared about you, they would catch you if you passed out, and not let your head hit the edge of the fireplace when you fell.

The only thing I can even relate akin to any “choking game” is what was called a California Headrush- when I was in my mid teens you'd have someone cut off the blood supply to your brain until you momentarily blacked out, and subsequently regained consciousness and everything would come rushing back, but that was with a group of friends doing it for “fun.” Not some kid in his room attaching the rope to a pipe first. Looks intentional almost. Who the hell knows.
