It was a matter of time before the cows get hit without fence. As for the guy i dont know. He had a good heart but his instinct failed him

they’re trained to blare the horn so screams cant be heard. also can sometimes drown out a human thump. not so much a cow thump.

why do I hate it so much more to see animals get hurt/killed? I feel like when I watch humans get squashed I’m able to do the mental gymnastics that allow me to somewhat understand how a person could “deserve”(not in a victim-blame way, more like in a consequential way) what’s happening, but when I see animals get hurt it just makes me so sad

I think it's because we tend to judge the victim for their actions.

We like to think that we would have done the right thing in the given situation and since the person in the video does not, we think they made a mistake which we would have (easily) avoided.

Once the victim is visibly understood as incapable of avoiding the mistake (i.e. children/animals) we tend to be more empathetic.

Basically the more capable or stronger the victim appears or the less we have in common with them (i.e. country, language, social status, ethnicity) , the less empathetic we are. And the more vulnerable the victim is, the more empathetic we are.

Of course from a perspective of reason/ethics it's wrong to judge the victim, but from an irrational/emotional/first thought we might react this way. If you are indeed feeling unwell about feeling this way, I think it shows that your morals are (still) in the right place.

big disagreement here. nobody shown on this site deserved to die. it's just interesting to see how death can be so incredibly crude and sudden
