I wonder this too, I’ve heard mentions of this everywhere, but nonetheless the actual content is not much different from anything else here. I’d asume maybe it’s age and area of origin, but the story behind this incident is pretty wild (its all explained under the video).

Probably because it's really old -- in the '90s, it was probably the most shocking and violent video on the internet for a short while. It was also more easily distributed due to its short length/small file size (most people were still on dialup at the time.)

Not for that short a while. I remember an ogrish forum user saying this was the best gore video out there in 2006 or so and no one disagreeing with him.
