I worked with Veterans and one fellow never said anything much about the war, but he said he remembered storming the beach at Normandy, looking back, and seeing what looked like tin cans bobbing in the water, and realized they were helmets and dead men. I can see that in my mind's eye still. But he lived into his 90s.

One guy had a famous photo of himself and a crashed German plane with the swastika on the tail, it was a stark photo.

They've all died now, we now have Korea and Vietnam Veterans as the old duffers.
