Well I'm talking emotional, not physical shock. I've been in life or death situations and it's been rather out of body (as in not feeling the fear etc).
To pre-edit, I've never been in combat as I'm sure many of you have. I'm also not trying to diminish the experience. I only ask if you feel like sharing, but I imagine the experience to be something where normal emotions are not experienced in real time. I'm sure it does follow after though, and thank you for your sacrifice.

There was an interview with a fireman there on the day and he said a woman who jumped landed right next to him (or may have even fallen on another firefighter and killed him?)
I think one of the firefighters went to cover her body and she groaned
“I’m not dead yet!” Before dying. Apparently her whole lower half was gone where she landed feet-first.
I can’t find reference to it when I Google.

If true, then this story involves two different women. A female jumper did land on a firefighter, killing him, but I haven't heard anything about the other one. It definitely seems possible though, because of the human body being the way it is

If I was faced with the decision I'd much rather jump as well, especially when the alternative is most likely burning alive.
The heat is most likely what people hanging out of windows near the impact zone were trying to escape from, rather than the smoke, in my opinion, but of course we can't be completely positively sure.
Your body will explode like a water balloon when you hit the ground, but if you're going to die on that day anyway it doesn't really matter

I remember the first few days after 9/11, there was a HUGE uproar when one of the early shock sites (can't recall the name) featured a WTC jumper vid dubbed with Tom Petty's "Free Falling." The same site also posted an assortment of so-called WTC jumper trading cards. Made to resemble baseball cards, they would have a screen cap of the various jumpers plus their stats - height, weight, IAS, terminal velocity, shit like that. The backlash was enormous, with talk of having the site shut down. Anyone else recall this?

I remember robotripping my face off in earth science when the principal came over the speakers announcing we have been attacked and then seeing that stuff. Our business in the Middle East still is not finished. Especially with how Barry and bidet handled the pull outs.
