Well yeah, absolutely they were injured. They had like 2 different explosive ordinances dropped on them. Immobilizing injuries coupled with water logged heavy gear, and disorientation (from the explosives and panic) is more than enough to make someone drown in shallow water.

you can tell where he kind of "snaps out of it", and starts kicking more realizing he's going to die, but yet can't do anything but kick his legs and float and sink down

Explosions inside the water cause your organs to be rearranged due to the air in your body and the pressure difference/force from the explosion, making the air pockets (and their surroundings) in your body move.

There’s a longer video, but they get hit with 2 VOG’s. The 2nd one is the one that seems to have sealed the deal but it seems like he was heavily incapacitated/ paralyzed even before the 2nd VOG so maybe there was a 3rd one we didn’t see. Combined with a full load of gear and the water that soaks into your clothes adding onto the weight. Also seemed like his buddy either booked it or is dead. Not a fun time.

Yeah...I think it was all that plus being in freezing ice cold water. If they get hypothermic. Symptoms include confusion, loss of coordination, and weakness so it was probably a cocktail of several things.
