I think the only relevant backstory is they didn't know to stay out of the water if they couldn't swim, especially since they couldn't see the bottom. I can't even imagine how horribly this incident is going to scar that poor child.

That's what I was thinking as well but I also thought maybe there was some kind of drain that sucked him/those who tried to save him in. Poor kid is right! Can't even imagine what that's like.

Ive seen many videos like this. Apparently they just legitimately dont know how to swim or tread water. There was probably an unexpected drop off
