No, this is not post partum depression. This is post partum psychosis. My best friend dealt with PPD and she's an L&D nurse. It's rough, but PPD doesn't result in infanticide.
By the way, PPD doesn't only affect women. It affects men as well, but men don't have any resources available for help.

I just don't get why they didn't go in right away. If they knew it was that shallow it wouldn't have been an issue. They aren't gonna get dragged down into the water by a toddler in that depth, no chance. You'd have to be frail or something. Still glad they did something, lots of people wouldn't.

Outside of pulling them out of the water, don't do most of what that guy did. Gravity alone is not going to help with waterlogged lungs, especially if the kid/adult is unconscious. There's a reason why you cough in these situations; that's your body trying to get rid of the water in your lungs. You have to help force it out.
