I see a lot of people here that don't understand what is happening. He is doing the right thing by spraying water in short intervals. He doesn't want to close the circuit with water between the power line and the ground. The explosion definitely didn't come from spraying water on electrical fire. It was probably oil from a distribution transformer. It can hold up to 40 gallons of oil, that is flammable.

It didn't explode because of the electricity, it was due to the oil inside the transformer that was too hot

Call it whatever you like, but I'm not making this up. And yeah, some might call Cdn dollars a 'really cheap foreign currency' at an exchange rate of about US $1 = $1.40 Cdn. Still, that makes it around $85k US. Also, each of those 8 days is a 24 hr shift.
