Any back story or location?

The fading of the clothing looks like he was there for at least one season

I haven't found a back story yet.

I'll update the post if I find anything.

As the UV radiation on mountains is intense and the clothes fade faster, I can't estimate how long he's/she's been on that mountain.

No backstory but I watched a documentary once about this type of stuff. Apparently it's very common to find dead people high up in the mountains. Helicopters cannot reach these highs because of the wind and thin air. For people like these climbers it's way to dangerous to risk their life to bring down a corpse from such a high. So most of the time the dead just pile up near the top. I've found an article here and it seems on Mount Everest alone are about 300 bodies.
