Not really. Any animal would survive this. He only shot his frontal lobe off at most which isn't a guaranteed death unless you're left alone to bleed. Like @soiboi said, he aimed the gun up his chin like an idiot which led to this, I blame hollywood and other forms of entertainment since they always how people dying with the gun aimed at the chin for dramatic effect.
