These videos are very interesting and they are tragic, quite nightmare scenarios, but they are always leaving everything to the imagination. Most such spillages are so bright that the camera gets overwhelmed. We appreciate them. of course. but they are almost always a bit disappointing (to sick bastards like us WPD dwellers)

Maybe you do the same thing I do when watching this type of video- Before I hit play, I look at everything on screen and try to guess where the death was going to come from.

My guess was wrong on this one- I thought the vat on the floor level which the man is looking at was going to tip over and wash him away in a hellish tide.

Bro, same 😅. I was initially staring at the vat on the top right for most of the video so I had to rewind.

Vat on the ceiling is sliding up all sneaky behind you, Mr. Burn Yo' Shit creeping on the ceiling. Working in a Chinese factory is like working in a warzone where gigantic robots spewing flames are trying to kill you.

I wonder... that shit is so absurdly hot, I'm not sure your nerves would even have the time to register "pain". Consciousness probably doesn't last long after being doused with thousands of pounds of liquid hot metal. Poor bastard.

You're probably right :marseyyes:

It's fucked up to imagine, but I think sometimes when people get killed by a "sudden" injury like this, they have a brief conscious awareness of it. Like, this guy heard/saw that shit when it came loose and started pouring down, giving his mind time to register that "You're about to be covered in molten steel, bro". Perception of time in such a moment could also be unimaginable... What I'm suggesting, is that the worst part of this man's death was about 3 seconds of him realizing it's happening- I don't think he felt much. Someone can check me on this, but I've heard it said that when a burn is hot enough, it destroys the nerves before they can register pain. I'm sure that threshold is somewhere near the melting point of steel or iron or w/e the fuck that shit is.

I came here to wonder what dudes POV must have been like for that millisecond of being splashed with molten metal and you have really filled in the blanks here.

Awareness during death has always been a fascinating subject. The brain does all kinds of strange shit when dying, and our understanding of the brain is very limited as it is. What is a "thought"? When do they stop forever? Upon death? Or, if you want to get supernatural with it... imagine that when you die, your consciousness remains attached to your body. Your rotting corpse, stuffed into a coffin, unable to move or speak or cry. All you can do is think. Time loses all meaning in the pitch blackness of your coffin.

That seems like a worse hell than a lake of fire, to me.

I know nothing about smelting but a bunch of boiling lava attacked to ropes would get me to quit on day 1.

Thats normal, german steelworker here, the rope u say is a steelcable mostly thicker then ur thumb. The better question is how bad is maintenance that something like this happens? And why no one noticed like the craneoperator and pressed an emergency button ? :D

First time i looked that video i thought that was intentional but yeah maybe just a broke conntactor which is attached to an Motor to lift up the "rope" on the back.

And btw. U get known alot of deathcases in big steel industrie when u work there and at some point u arent feared anymore :D

I'm an American steel worker. I actually make the steel that's poured into ingot molds, which are eventually melted down and poured into parts. I'm not sure how our countries differ, but I've never heard of any steelworkers dying, only on these videos.

Not just by molten metal but heavy industrie gives u alot of opportunities to die like falling thing on you, die from electrical shock alot chances like some month ago we got a hearth attack death cause too old and too hard work and yeah a lot of chances to die

There's death, and there's taxes. If the first happens, you don't need to worry about the second.
