SEGAMAT - An imam suddenly collapsed while leading morning prayers on Fridays in the month of Ramadan at Jamek Kampung Sermin Mosque, Segamat early yesterday morning.A 45-second closed-circuit television (CCTV) video recorded in the mosque in question went viral showing the last moments of Mohd. Razif Hussin, 62, who was leading the prayer was attended by about 15 congregations.
The deceased, who was the 1st Imam of the Sermin Jamek Mosque, was seen suddenly collapsing before being helped by some of the congregation who were shocked by the incident.
According to Musa Atan, 60, when the incident happened at about 6.18 in the morning, suddenly Mohd. Razif staggered when he finished reciting surah Al-Fatihah in the first rakaat.
"Seeing his condition, some pilgrims who were near him tried to welcome him.
"We laid him down and carried him and also gave first aid to the deceased while teaching him to say the two words of shahadah," he said when met in Kampung Sermin here, today.
Meanwhile, Segamat Police Chief, Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said that the police had received a report about the incident.
"The police classified the case as sudden death (SDR)," he said when met at Segamat District Police Headquarters (IPD) today. – COSMO! ONLINE
