I worked ems in nyc and one time i got called to a doa that had been laying there for like 2 weeks. June or july, all the windows closed, heat on full blast. You could smell it as soon as you got off the elevator. We stayed on scene for like an hour and a half just breathing that shit in until the cops took the scene over from us. Later they told us the body burst when the ME went to move it. I had put my hands in his pockets looking for his ID. Shit felt like jelly.
