Police officers are allowed to use deadly force to stop an immediate threat to their lives of the life of another person, which is clearly the case here. I don't think I've ever read anything about cops having to give the suspect a chance to stop what he's doing before they can use deadly force.

Not sure how it is in the US, but in Germany, the police usually have to threaten the use of a firearm first, then give a warning shot second, and only then shoot someone. UNLESS there is no time for that. If a police officer is legally allowed to use a firearm at all (for example, to stop a threat, to stop a fleeing, armed suspect, or something like that) and would risk harm by not using it immediately, he can also shoot first and give a warning second (like, threatening to shoot again).

To all the people who believe the cop should've given him a better chance to actually comply: Us (relatively) sane people can barely fathom the pyschopathic tricks some of the criminals use - some of which are available on this very site! There are so many clips on here of suspects deliberately pretend to comply, operate under false flag or play dead in order to provoke a sense of security in the cop.
I mean, of course, if the cop had the gift of foresight he should not have shot him that fast - half a second isn't really enough for most people to even process what they've been told. But given the situations these cops (especially US cops due to gun availability) have to deal with, I'd say the cop is justified in shooting you the minute you have a weapon (be it a knife or a gun or something else) pointed at someone. Which I, despite not being a US lawyer, would also believe to be legal facts of the matter.

A guy was arrested by two cops, he was cooperating, and he was sat down on the pavement, the cops got too loose he pulled a gun out, shot one of them fataly and the other ended in critical condition, the guy was imprisoned.
