He didn't really give him time to comply but can he really risk that he would decide to cut the guy? I don't think so

I think the cop was legally allowed to just shoot him without saying anything.

Police officers are allowed to use deadly force to stop an immediate threat to their lives of the life of another person, which is clearly the case here. I don't think I've ever read anything about cops having to give the suspect a chance to stop what he's doing before they can use deadly force.

Not sure how it is in the US, but in Germany, the police usually have to threaten the use of a firearm first, then give a warning shot second, and only then shoot someone. UNLESS there is no time for that. If a police officer is legally allowed to use a firearm at all (for example, to stop a threat, to stop a fleeing, armed suspect, or something like that) and would risk harm by not using it immediately, he can also shoot first and give a warning second (like, threatening to shoot again).

Yes. This is good. But killing people for running/drugs/shouting/noinsurance/ etc even a warrant shouldnt warrant death.

Honestly looked like he was backing up a bit before the shots but if you're that close to killing someone guess they can't take chances

That’s what I thought, too - he gave him less than a half of a second to comply - not saying that it wasn’t justified on behalf of protecting the victim, or stopping the assailant, but that dude had literally NO time to “drop the knife.”

He should not of raised it in the first place. Reminds me of those scenes in the movies when the villan is about to kill the dude but talks so much dude turns it around. 😝

Oh for sure, and I’m not saying you’re wrong. This whole confrontation was just extremely sloppy, and could’ve been handled much, much better.

Not saying the cop made the wrong choice, but the guy actually did comply, or started to. He was withdrawing the knife and letting go of the other guy's arms .

The cop has to decide within a fraction of a second. The cop made the right choice
