Dude shoots 13 times, Police shoot 45 times

On June 24, 2023, Albuquerque Police were called to an AutoZone on 98th. They claimed 41-year-old Mark Peter was passed out in his car and found by an AutoZone employee. Police arrived around 3:30 p.m. and tried to get him out of the car. Police ran the plate of the vehicle and discovered Peter had several felony warrants out for his arrest. P.A.’s were given for over 14 minutes, eventually, Peter woke up and took off, so police popped his tires. He ends up across the street near Churches Chicken. Peter is seen trying to take off again before heading right into El Mezquite Market. It created chaos at the checkout lines, where at least seven people are in danger of being hit by gunfire. Officers try to tase him, but Peter allegedly opens fire while shoppers and workers run for their lives and take cover. Officers returned fire, and Peter is killed with two store clerks just feet away. Peter reportedly fired 13 shots at officers, and they returned 45 shots. No one else was injured in the shootout. Peter was wanted on charges from an incident back in April that was similar to what happened on Saturday. Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputies found Peter passed out in the driver's seat of his vehicle. Deputies later executed a search warrant on Peter's vehicle and had obtained an arrest warrant for trafficking a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.

The man was identified as 30-year-old Kyle Dail, who drove away from the gas station around 10:25 p.m. when police attempted to stop his car.

Dail returned returned to the gas station and went inside, where an officer recognized Dail and his car, according to Dallas Police.

Officers from the Northeast Patrol attempted to arrest Dail inside the gas station, where a fight broke out and Dail pulled out a gun. One of the officers shot and injured him.

6 December 2023

Newly released body camera footage shows the tense moments that led to Reno police shooting and killing a man who attacked an officer responding to a domestic disturbance.

Just before 11 a.m. on Dec. 6, officers with the Reno Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of Colorado River Blvd. on multiple reports of a woman frantically screaming for help saying a man inside her house was killing another woman.

Body camera footage released on Thursday morning shows an officer arrive within minutes and being met by several people outside saying a woman was inside and she needed help.

Due to the violence involved in the call and the safety threat, the responding officer didn't wait for back up before approaching the door. The video shows 34-year-old Caleb Briggs inside the doorway with his right hand tucked behind his back. He was clearly agitated and told the officer multiple times to mind his own business and to leave his property because they didn't have a warrant.

The video shows Briggs pointing outside and telling the responding officer people were now fighting outside as a result of them responding. The officer asks Briggs if he's the problem and Briggs quickly charges at the officer, attacking him and reaching for his gun. The cop was able to reach for his gun shooting Briggs twice in the doorway of the home.

Responding officers provided aid on Briggs until paramedics arrived. The suspect was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The Sparks Police Department has taken over the investigation as part of the regional officer-involved shooting protocol. The case will be submitted to the Washoe County District Attorney's office where it will be determined if the officer was justified in his actions.

Police did not release any information about the victim(s) inside the house.

His arrest in 2019

https://www.kolotv.com/content/news/Man-accused-of-threatening-deputies-in-domestic-disturbance-call-504718391.html

Washoe County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man on numerous charges after he allegedly threatened deputies during their response to a call of a disturbance at the home.

Deputies were called to a Sun Valley home the evening of January 21, 2019. They say when they got there, they were threatened by 29-year-old Caleb Briggs. He was not holding a weapon, but deputies say there were weapons in the home, and he indicated he would use one or more against the deputies.

Deputies got him in handcuffs and arrested him for four counts of assault against a protected person (the deputies), three counts of child abuse or neglect, domestic battery and harassment. He is also accused of making a gesture at deputies that led to a count of open and gross lewdness and one of public or indecent exposure. Bail is $3,000 for one of the charges; no bail has been set for the rest.

The Sheriff's Office says no one in the home was hurt.

Allen, Texas — On May 6, 2023, an Allen Police Officer speaking to a mother and her two kids heard off more than 10 gunshots in the distance, at the Allen Premium Outlets mall. The officer calls in the shots fired over the radio and another round of gunfire is heard. The officer grabs his weapon and tells shoppers to get down. The officer runs across the outlet mall for approximately two-to-three minutes, and multiple rounds of gunfire are heard throughout this time. The video was edited by the department to blur out the faces of civilians and victims, and some language was removed. In it, gunshots ring out and the officer is heard saying, "Shots fired. Shots fired. We got people running." He grabs his gun, yells for people to "Get moving!" and heads toward the gunfire.

About four minutes into the footage, the officer raises his weapon and shoots at gunman, identified as 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia. After he fires several more times, it's eerily quiet for the first time since the chaotic footage began. "Shots fired by police. I got him down!" The officer shoots two more times, and screams, "Drop the gun!" Little more than five minutes after the footage began, the officer had fatally shot Garcia. Another officer approaches Garcia's body and the officer who ended the mass shooting, says, "We got him bro... we got him." Garcia murdered 8 people and wounded another 7 people when he went on his deadly rampage. On June 26, The Texas Rangers and the Collin County District Attorney’s Office presented the evidence to the grand jury. After reviewing the evidence, they ruled the use of force was justified under Texas law.

Minneapolis, Minnesota — The Hennepin County judge Peter Cahill overseeing the George Floyd case has made the body worn cameras from ex-officers Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng available. The video, taken from the body worn cameras shows Kueng and Lane responding to a convenience store on May 25 on a report that Floyd had allegedly used a fake $20 bill. Their former colleagues, Tou Thao and Derek Chauvin, later showed up to assist. The footage follows Lane and Kueng as they apprehend Floyd and two acquaintances. Lane holds Floyd at gunpoint and handcuffs him, and the officers briefly question the visibly panicked man before attempting to get him into their patrol SUV. After struggling to get him into the police squad, Floyd is eventually held down by officers on the ground. Floyd is heard calling to his mother, repeatedly saying he can't breathe and that everything hurts. After a few minutes, Senior officers Derek Chauvin and Tou Thao arrive and help wrestle him to the ground. Chauvin then places his knee on Floyd's neck, where it stays for over nine minutes. Lane and Kueng hold down Floyd's back and knees as Thao keeps increasingly agitated bystanders at bay. Chauvin gets up after paramedics arrive and load Floyd into an ambulance. Lane accompanies them and administers CPR as they take Floyd to an out-of-the-way street corner, while Kueng goes back into Cup Foods interviewing an employee about the alleged counterfeit $20 bill and collecting evidence.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, April 30, 2024) – Today, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department provided an update on Monday's tragic attack on law enforcement officers in the North Tryon Division. CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings released the names and conditions of the four CMPD officers wounded in the incident. U.S. Marshals Service Director Ronald Davis released the identity of the fourth officer killed in the line of duty.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks died in the hospital from his gunshot wound injuries. He was a 13-year veteran of the U.S. Marshals Office. CMPD's Crime Scene Investigation Unit and detectives worked through the night processing the crime scene in the 5000 block of Galway Drive in the North Tryon Division. During the investigation, a semi-automatic AR-15 rifle, 40-caliber handgun and additional magazines and ammo for both weapons were recovered on scene.

Two females inside the residence were brought in on Monday, April 29, to be interviewed by detectives. They are fully cooperating with the investigation. Detectives are not looking for any additional suspects or persons of interest.

Preliminary information indicates that 12 CMPD officers fired their service weapon. All 12 of those officers are on paid, administrative leave. As is standard procedure with any officer involved shooting, the CMPD's Internal Affairs Bureau will conduct a separate but parallel investigation.

The officers involved in yesterday's shooting incident are a part of the Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force (CRFTF), which began operations in January of 2018. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office. For additional information in reference to this case, please refer to the report: 20240429-1333-00.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Investigators on Wednesday continued working to piece together the timeline of a deadly shooting in east Charlotte that killed four officers and left four others with gunshot wounds, rocking the law enforcement community nationwide and spurring an outpouring of support for the officers and their families.

Civic and religious leaders are asking the community for patience, love and grace as they grapple with the fallout of the deaths: Four families who have lost a husband and a father.

Officials have declined to discuss the specifics of the incident, including whether it was appropriate for law enforcement to engage in a lengthy gun battle in the middle of a neighborhood in the middle of the day.

"We do, like a number of cities across this country, have issues around violence. But I think most of the time we can identify why and how," Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles said Tuesday night following a community prayer vigil. "In this situation, I think once they finish the investigation, we will probably know more about the how and the why. And my goal is that we complete the investigation, we actually learn from what is going on and that we move forward together."
