Why do people do it?

There are alot of reasons why people would be doing it sometimes its for the pain or a stress relief or sometimes its used as a coping mechanism. People turn to self harm as an escape from the reality and to cope with their depression

What counts as self harm?

Biting yourself anywhere counts as self harm, hitting yourself, burning yourself and inflicting any pain onto yourself

How do i know if i have gone too deep?

To know if you have gone too deep you will either see a white or yellow show up in your cut, white means styro (second skin layer) and yellow means beans (also know as the fat layer). Tjough if you have gone to the beans layer or any deeper you will most likely need medical attention such as stitching or getting it taped

What do i do if i have an infection?

To clarify if you have an infection you will need to check your cut to see if there is any puss forming around or if its oozing from the wound and if your cut has a bad smell its most likely an infection. Redness in the area of the wound, Swelling or warmth in the wound area is an sign too. If it is infected you will need to clean the wound then apply antibiotic cream around the wound then dress it (take antibiotics prescribed by your doctor)

Why shouldn't self harm be romanticized?

Its disgusting behavior and should not be romanticized at all, its a mental illness and your genuinely retarded to think its "cute" or "pretty" . Self harm is a struggle and a coping mechanism and if you cant see any wrong in your romanticizing behavior then you need help. Its also seen as an encouraging term, people can be encouraged by others when they see people call self harm "cute"

Why do people criticize self harm?

This is very common among people who hate self harm they genuinely cant keep it to themselves and would rather express it, they think its retarded and stupid. I can agree with the part that its stupid but there is nothing u can do about it it was their choice to bring this upon themselves. Telling them to kill there selves wont do u any better it wont affect them either. They would rather self harm then end it all which i wont judge since i understand. Basically they are just judging mental illness
