One man shot in the head while another man plays dead after somehow not being hit from a point-blank shot - most likely gang related

Bullets erupted outside a Harlem bodega early Friday, killing a reputed gang member and wounding a bystander coming home from work, cops said.

A gunman walking west on 133rd St. turned the corner onto Amsterdam Ave., drew a revolver and shot a 25-year-old man standing in front of the Gourmet Deli in the head around 5:30 a.m., police said.

"I was walking in my building and I heard two shots — bang, bang," said a 22-year-old neighbor, who had just parked his car near the deli when the shooting began. "I saw the guy lying on the sidewalk in front of the deli and three guys running down Amsterdam."

The blood was shed across the street from Public School 61, the Don Pedro Albizu Campos Elementary School.

Medics rushed the mortally wounded victim to Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital but he died at 6 a.m., officials said. His name was not immediately released.

A 28-year-old bystander had stopped in the bodega to buy food when he was hit in the face with gun powder, cops said. He refused medical attention.

The slain man had a tattoo which read "ATG," which stands for Addicted to Green, a Harlem gang also known as Gun Clappin', sources said. He had 12 prior arrests, including for carrying a loaded gun in 2011.

There were no immediate arrests.

He fucking slapped the pistol off target (his head) at the last possible second, the very moment the trigger was pulled. So, he heard a BANG and a CRACK at the same time, totally deafening him in his right ear... but the bullet missed him. It was probably so loud, it probably rattled his head a little- he might've thought he was shot. If the shooter really wanted orange-shorts-guy dead, he could've put a few in his back or head after he went down.

Playing dead is a huge gamble. It worked perfectly for this guy, but it doesn't seem like he was the target. Also, in shootings like this, usually they use overkill- they'll shoot their target to make them fall over, then walk up for the coup de grace. So, do you fight/try to run, or play dead? I guess the right choice really depends on the situation.

This was definitely targeted, homeboy in the white shirt that got his brains ventilated was the target, orange shorts guy just tried to fight the shooter- he probably thought that his boys would have his back, but nope, they scattered.

Props to orange-shorts guy for trying to do something and actually pulling off something that's pretty impressive.

Not that it matters, but "point blank" is actually a lot farther away than you probably think. It's the distance in which gravity does not affect the accuracy of a shot. Now, with physics, we know that gravity is always affecting the shot, but there's a long distance before you can relatively tell that the bullet is dropping from the sighted target.
