Holy shit- look at 20 seconds into the video. Watch the left arm of the guy in the orange shorts.
He fucking slapped the pistol off target (his head) at the last possible second, the very moment the trigger was pulled. So, he heard a BANG and a CRACK at the same time, totally deafening him in his right ear... but the bullet missed him. It was probably so loud, it probably rattled his head a little- he might've thought he was shot. If the shooter really wanted orange-shorts-guy dead, he could've put a few in his back or head after he went down.
Playing dead is a huge gamble. It worked perfectly for this guy, but it doesn't seem like he was the target. Also, in shootings like this, usually they use overkill- they'll shoot their target to make them fall over, then walk up for the coup de grace. So, do you fight/try to run, or play dead? I guess the right choice really depends on the situation.
This was definitely targeted, homeboy in the white shirt that got his brains ventilated was the target, orange shorts guy just tried to fight the shooter- he probably thought that his boys would have his back, but nope, they scattered.
Props to orange-shorts guy for trying to do something and actually pulling off something that's pretty impressive.

Honestly, depending on just how close it was to his head he may have actually been temporarily knocked unconscious from the concussion, he was definitely pretty dazed when he stood up at the very least π€·ββοΈ

I watched it again on slow-mo to see all the detail
But it got me thinking that this could have been a set up or they knew the gunman because the shooter follows orange shorts onto the scene before he shoots the guy in the head
Unarmed Orange shorts approaches the gunman along with saggy grey shorts who ultimately runs off
Or maybe the gunman just wanted one guy dead and didn't want orange shorts to fuck with him
Any how no one gave a shit about the shot guy.

With so many other people around, the shooter probably didn't want to stay around for too long. He simply didn't have time to make sure his target was dead. He didn't want to get shot himself...

If you can't get away, get the gun away from the shooter or kill them, playing dead is basically your best shot. If it's a hitman or gang-related, good chance you'll be fine, unless the hitman is an amateur. Regardless I hope to never be in that situation. Just waiting for fate to decide sounds extremely terrible.
