I heard about this case a while ago. The man's name is Paul Yearly, and this crash occurred on April 2, 2015. He didn't fall asleep, but rather suffered a blackout due to orthostatic hypotension (https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/orthostatic-hypotension/symptoms-causes/syc-20352548). I have linked a video where he talks more about the ordeal below.

They are often in the rear view mirror, filming ahead or/and inside. I never seen one mounted on the shoulder before, but I doubt it was a setup for clout. The steering wheel movement also doesn't look natural but it was just too dangerous and he wrecked his poor Mustang.
