Absolutely. It's inhumane to let our pets needlessly suffer when they're in terminal pain yet we allow fellow humans to suffer. I'd hope that if assisted suicide is made legal to all (and deemed a human right, which it 100% absolutely is to me) then any depressed people accessing the procedure would have exhausted all other avenues of help first though. That way there would be no spontaneous 'mistakes' just because someone is having a particularly depressive episode that they would have ended up coming out of. It's so sad when people from here go over to Dignitas in Switzerland with their ill spouse so they can be with them for their final moments on earth but end up getting arrested as soon as they get back here. Luckily the majority of them are never charged but it's like, come on they are already going through so much heartache so why needlessly add more?! Really sick system.

I support assisted suicide but allowing for people without life altering diseases to do it would open up so many problems. Literally any kid whos feeling bad will just put them self through the process to do it.

You dont have kids do you? Imagine you had a son or daughter, they had depression, then when they turned 18 decided they wanted to end their life and the government offered them assistance. Do you know how sick that is?

It is true though. Nobody asks to be born so the very least we should be allowed to choose is when we've had enough. It's horrendous when people from my country (UK) have to fly with a loved one to Dignitas in Switzerland where they can legally be euthanized in the most serene and humane way possible, only for the person accompanying them to be arrested as an accessory to murder when they arrive home. So many have been arrested, I don't think the charges ever stick but that isn't the point. I'd like to think the decision process would be thorough and stringent enough if it did become a human right, wouldn't want to make that decision on a whim during a particularly bad bout of depression. Due to a change in my antidepressants (switching from one to another as the case has been for 21 years now) I had a complete mental breakdown on New Years Day and was going to commit suicide. Planned it so meticulously, set the date (the day I was getting paid so I could buy what I needed.) Luckily payday was a week away and in that week my new antidepressants began to kick in and I've had no thoughts of suicide since. Would have been a horrific sight for my other half to find.
